What is FDA Academy?

The FDA Academy run by Football Development Australia Pty Ltd in Sydney is an elite player development program which offers the unique opportunity for young Australian players to develop in one of the most advanced football academies in Australia. The FDA Academy program is based on programs used by European professional academies
and tailored to suit the needs of elite Australian players. The FDA Coaching team monitors young players’ development in key areas of their game. The Academy program develops players technically, tactically, physically and psychologically as if they were based in Europe.

The program aims to promote excellence in football in Australia and provide the best opportunity for players to reach their full potential in the game. While winning is often seen as the way that progress is measured, the Academy philosophy is that winning is a product of individual and team development and therefore our focus is always on development.

The FDA Academy professional coaching team focuses on reaching specific objectives in relation to the technical, tactical, physical and psychological progress of a football squad in each age group. The FDA coaching team insists on the highest degree of professionalism - all training sessions are meticulously prepared for each particular squad and progress is carefully monitored. We encourage and support all of our coaches in achieving a high level of competence through practical and theoretical training and player experience.

The FDA Academy offers its players additional services such as Strength and Conditioning Program. With the help of coordination and mobility exercises, elite players can develop strength, flexibility and posture in a safe and controlled environment. As volume and intensity of training increases with age, the focus shifts heavily to injury prevention.

Can anyone attend FDA Academy?

No. Unlike the FDA Football Camps (5 day school holiday football program), which is open to all players aged 6-15, the FDA Academy is open only to male elite players born between 1996 and 2002. To be able to attend, each player needs to go through a selection process (trials) and will be notified of the Academy’s decision in a formal letter of acceptance.
